Of the Parish Summer Fete a Churchwarden wrote:

"The weather was splendid - probably too splendid, as we boiled in the sun, but we mustn't complain - however, I think it was too hot for a lot of people.   However, the turnout was good and there was a nice atmosphere.   Trade was brisk on the Jams & Preserves, Plants, Cakes, Music, Books & Toys Stall, with a steady flow on the games stalls.   Thanks to the traders on Station Parade for their donations and to all those who contributed to the fete in many ways and helped to run stalls etc on the day and clear up afterwards.   I think we can say that a good time was had by all!"
